UCPH Model for Digital Literacy Across Study Programmes

All bachelor students across UCPH are required to acquire a broad, basic understanding of key concepts in digitalisation. They must be able to reflect critically on digitalisation and apply digital tools and methods relevant to their field of study.
Students will continue to develop their digital competences throughout their Master’s degree programmes to ensure that UCPH graduates are well-prepared for an increasingly digitised labour market.

The UCPH Model for Digital Literacy

To support this goal, UCPH has developed a shared model for digital literacy.
The model outlines five key topics relevant to all students, regardless of their academic discipline. It serves as a common framework to ensure a minimum level of digital understanding, while allowing for variation in how deeply each topic is explored depending on the study programme.

Course Room and Learning Resources

Each of the five topics in the UCPH model corresponds to a section in the dedicated Absalon course room on Canvas.

  • For each topic, students will find a range of learning resources – from short introductory lessons to longer, more in-depth courses.

  • The short lessons provide general introductions to core concepts and require minimal time investment.

  • Longer resources explore the topics more thoroughly, allowing students to deepen their understanding.

These materials aim to:

  • Establish a shared, basic level of digital literacy across programmes.

  • Inspire students to develop further competences.

  • Refer to additional resources for extended learning.

For Lecturers

The materials in this course room are cross-disciplinary and not tied to any specific subject. They are available to all UCPH lecturers.

Lecturers and course managers are encouraged to:

  • Use the materials as-is or adapt them for their own course rooms.

  • Integrate relevant lessons as needed – the resources are modular and can be used independently of each other.

About the Model

The UCPH model for students’ digital literacy and competences was developed by an interdisciplinary working group with experts from across the University. It is part of the 2023 strategy programme Joint Goals at UCPH for Digitalisation of Degree Programmes.

Most of the learning resources in the course room have been newly developed by course directors appointed and supported by UCPH in collaboration with the Center for Online & Blended Learning.
