Teacher: Martin Kongsbak-Wismann & Jan Pravsgaard
At the conference “Make a Difference: Teach and Learn with Technology”, Martin Kongsbak-Wismann and Jan Pravsgaard showcased their approach to using ChatGPT for generating multiple-choice questions (MCQs) in immunology at the medical education.
Their presentation demonstrated how, with relatively little effort, ChatGPT can produce a strong draft of AI-generated MCQs to work with. While the AI efficiently generates a diverse range of rigorous questions, they also highlighted its limitations and areas where teacher oversight remains essential.

What was your motivation?
Jan Pravsgaard and Martin Kongsbak-Wismann are driven by a shared commitment to enhance learning for their students in immunology for 5th-semester medical students.. Recognizing the potential of AI to support teaching, they have explored how ChatGPT can be effectively used to generate multiple-choice questions (MCQs).
What was the outcome for you - and the students?
By using ChatGPT to generate MCQs, students benefited from a broader range of well-structured questions that reinforced key immunology concepts. The AI-assisted approach allowed for generating a large amount of MCQs while Jan and Martin ensured that all questions met academic standards, preventing misinformation or poorly framed content. Overall, the integration of AI-supported MCQs enhanced student engagement, comprehension, and exam preparedness.
